Game Thread #8: Oakland Athletics at Minnesota Twins

Good morning, and welcome to an early edition of A's baseball! For baseball-starved A's fans, who have seen the first week of the season conspire against the A's with a little bit of everything--weather, Tarpgate, weird off-days, it is nice to have baseball bright and early to start our Wednesday. I promise that your evenings will soon be filled with the green and gold, so enjoy your early baseball when you can get it!

Good morning, and welcome to Target Field, where the A's will take on the Minnesota Twins again, after a mid-week off-day. The good news is that yesterday's off-day is the only one for eight whole days; the A's take a break next Thursday, but play every day until then, for those of you jonesing for your baseball. I don't feel like the A's have really been able to get much of a rhythm going with the way the schedule has played out so far, but even with two disaster losses, the A's started the first week of the season 4-3. I'm going to go ahead and take that.

For your viewing pleasure today, be sure to see the play of the season so far in Double-A Midland, where Billy Burns scored from second base...on a sacrifice fly. Kid is fast.

Speaking of fast lead-off hitters, Coco Crisp is out of the lineup yet again, and will not return before Friday, after the cortizone shot he had in his left wrist. Sam Fuld will be leading off.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the mound, the A's Jesse Chavez will try to keep the A's rolling against Minnesota. He will be opposed by Phil Hughes.
