7-2 against the Non-Felixes this season, the first place A's take on the second place Mariners in the rubber game of the 3-game series. Today's winner will end the day atop the AL West.
Oakland sends Scott Kazmir to the mound trying to go to 3-0, opposed by the 6'10" RHP Chris Young. In his 2007 season with the Padres, Young's fastball averaged 90MPH. This season it has registered all of 85MPH, leading me to call for a "breakout game" from Josh Reddick. This is a good matchup for Reddick and he is in the lineup today hoping to improve upon his 3/33 start.
It's the day game after a night game, so Jed Lowrie gets his first day off with Nick Punto at SS, and Josh "I didn't swing!!!!!" Donaldson is the DH with Alberto Callaspo at 3B.
Last night's game was too close for comfort, considering how poorly Erasmo Ramirez pitched and how the Mariners finished up with 5 IPs from the back of their bullpen. Oakland cannot let Young off the hook the way they let Seattle pitchers get away with only surrendering 3 runs yesterday. The lineups:
