It is early in Hot Stove season, but at least we know the Athletics are not going to completely ignore the free agent market at shortstop this year, according to a report from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, reporting from the General Manager Meetings in Phoenix.

Heyman also notes that Hanley Ramirez is "presumably out of Oakland's price range." A good presumption. In his Top 50 free agents list, the surveyed anonymous agent predicted Ramirez would get a six year/$122 million deal, the general manager predicted five year/$90 million, and Heyman himself guessed five year/$105 million.
