Mike Aldrete is expected to be named the Oakland Athletics' new bench coach tomorrow morning, filling the gap left by the departure of Chip Hale to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Aldrete was working as the St. Louis bench coach since 2011, and previously worked as a hitting coach and a first base coach under Bob Melvin in Arizona and Seattle.
Aldrete, a former 1B and corner OF, played for the Oakland A's from 1993 to 1995 and is a NorCal native.
Aldrete still had a year remaining on his deal with #STLCards by the way, but it appears opportunity to come back to Bay Area a major plus.
