It's raining in Oakland. And Berkeley. And Walnut Creek. And probably lots of other places too. But the rain in Oakland is noteworthy because it is preventing the A's from playing their game and is preventing the poop from flushing down the toilets in the stadium (or something similar).
Our weatherman, player20, has the scoop on the cause of this rain:
Yes, it appears Donaldson hit his homer a little too hard last night, because it's coming down.
Here's the word from some A's insiders:
Yes there is sewage flooding the #Athletics coaches' bathroom this morning. Not in the coaches' room. Many jokes from coaches. #Athletics

Sounds like rain expected until about 1 pm. Game possibly delayed but is likely to be played. It will be umpires' decision. #Athletics

The #Athletics should add Mr. Hankey to the Legends Race. He's made the most headlines lately. (Artists rendering) pic.twitter.com/7wDlnhSJCn

#Athletics reliever Ryan Cook on sewage breakout in A's coaches office thanks to Saturday's rain: "It was like a sewage volcano."

A rain delay would be a good thing, right? Makes it more possible to celebrate on the field if A's win, Rangers lose.

The #Twins dugout is flooded but I am told there is no sewage component. Since it's the Coliseum, you always have to ask. #Athletics

The $#%+ is literally hitting the fan in Oakland. I'd recommend a tarp slide but there's a strong chance you'd get pink eye @BrettAnderson49

VP of stadium ops Rinetti says that it was an inch-plus of rain in a short time; most he can recall here ever for a day game.

At least for now they have finished getting water off the tarp at Coliseum. Rain has stopped. But game in no immediate danger of starting.

A's announce the obvious, that there's still no start time, but say, "We are optimistic that we will play baseball this afternoon!"

Today's game is estimated to start at 3 p.m. #Athletics

With any luck, the weather will calm down, the field will drain, the toilet demons will get bored and move on, and the game will be played. We'll keep you posted!
In other MLB news, the Rays won their game this morning after playing for nearly seven hours last night. The Giants got shut out by Ivan Nova. If the season ended today, the Rangers would not be in the playoffs. The Angels have a shot at reaching .500 by season's end (75-78 entering today).
If the game were to be played today, this is what the lineups would look like:
Twins (P. Hernandez - L) @ Athletics (J. Parker - R) | |||
UPDATE: Coco is out of the lineup, and Choice has taken his spot. New lineup:

There has been no announcement on Crisp, but it's more than likely just to keep him off wet field and make sure he stays healthy rest of way
