2013 Team MVP: You Decide!

New, 110 comments

There are multiple candidates for the 2013 A's team MVP. Who do you think should merit this elusive (and non-existent) award?

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going to narrow down the candidate list in the simplest way possible to prevent my own biases from creeping in. I went to Fangraphs, pulled up the roster, found the top 5 players ranked by fWAR, and listed them below. After researching each candidate, either here or on your own, please vote in the poll below for team MVP

If you wish to write-in a candidate, please choose "write-in" then present your explanation, statistical or otherwise, in the comments section. I can think of at least one guy who deserves consideration.

Josh Donaldson: 6.4 fWAR

Jed Lowrie: 3.3

Bartolo Colon: 3.3

Coco Crisp: 3.1

Josh Reddick: 2.0

Yoenis Cespedes: 2.0

Ryan Cook: 2.0

Note that the last three players all have 2.0 fWAR, so I listed all three.

Also note: Daric Barton has 0.3 fWAR.

In a strange scheduling quirk, the A's play the Twins for the first time tonight. In their never-ending politeness, though, those midwesterners have decided to mail it in just in time for September baseball. Jarrod Parker will take on Liam Hendricks in the battle for the Juicy Lucy crown. Gametime is at 5:05 PST with Lev as your thread host.
