Game Thread #76: Oakland Athletics at Seattle Mariners

After a nightmare series in Texas that saw the Rangers steal 3 of 4 from the A's, and whittle away the Division Lead, the A's, clinging to first place, visit Seattle to try to get back on a winning note. Bartolo Colon will be facing off against Hisashi Iwakuma in a rematch of Sunday's game.

Wait a minute...I think I've heard this song before. Bartolo Colon, Hisashi Iwakuma, battle of the early Cy Youngs? I feel like I saw this game, and I did. I was part of the standing-room-only crowd on Sunday as the A's, after wasting multiple baserunners early, eventually got to Iwakuma, and would later put an exclamation mark on the win with four homeruns off the Seattle bullpen. That was the only thing they did right against Seattle all weekend. The Mariners have played the A's tough so far this season, and in a series where the A's are fortunate enough to miss Felix Hernandez, they should really find a way to capitalize.

Bartolo Colon looks to extend his awesome season with another win against an elite opponent tonight. He will look for some run support from the A's offense, which has been quiet lately. Cespedes and Rosales are the most notably struggling, but it's been a problem up and down the lineup in the past ten games. Let's hope tonight's game looks more like Sunday's and less like Arlington. I'd like to forget that nightmare.
