Game Thread #53: Oakland Athletics vs. San Francisco Giants

The A's have won the first game of this four-game, two-city contest, and will go for another win (their 5th in a row) behind the newly resurgent Jarrod Parker tonight. Cross-town rivals, for bragging rights, A's vs. Giants, coming up tonight.

Don't look now, but the Oakland Athletics are red-hot. It's not that they are chasing win #5 in a row tonight, although they are, but it's more about winning 9 of their last 10, moving six games over .500, and beating some really good pitchers along the way, including last night's starter Madison Bumgarner. The A's pitching has appeared to turn a corner, and for the last three rotations, has been pretty unstoppable. Jarrod Parker started the A's winning ways, and will look to continue them again tonight. Parker has put together three consecutive quality starts and will try to turn over a lead to to the best bullpen in the AL.

The A's offense will be facing (checks notes) Michael Kickham, a lefty making his Major League Debut. Awwww...crap. The A's are notorious for being shut down by rookie pitchers, an annoying trend that we'd like to see end tonight, as the lineup faces yet another left-handed pitcher; their third in a row.

The A's will be throwing out this lineup:

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!
