The A's obtained Dennis Eckersley from the Cubs in 1987 for three minor-leaguers. I think Oakland got the better of the deal.

According to retrosheet, Dennis Eckersley was traded to Oakland for Dave Wilder, Brian Guinn and Mark Leonette, none of who ever made it to a major-league roster.

Meanwhile, Eck pitched in a total of 525 games for Oakland from 1987-95, not counting playoffs and World Series.
