The A's are coming off a brutal road trip, going 1-5 on their east coast swing through Tampa Bay and Boston. After three terrible offensive performances in Tampa, the offense rebounded in Boston to score a combined 24 runs. The pitching, however, did not follow. While Bartolo Colon threw a masterful 7 innings in the 13-0 thrashing of Boston on Tuesday night, both Brett Anderson and A.J. Griffin turned in mediocre starts. Even though the offense has been great so far this season, it all falls apart with poor starting pitching.
Tonight, Jarrod Parker attempts to right the ship. One of the few bright spots on the road trip was his start in Tampa. Aside from a Matt Joyce solo HR, he was miles better than his starts against Anaheim, Detroit, and Seattle. He'll look for a repeat performance tonight in the friendly, home-run suppressing confines of the Coliseum.
