Happy Monday Athletics Nation! Today's Spring Training game pits the A's against the Indians. Andrew Werner will start the game against Justin Masterson.
Normally, I like to give a preview of the game in this space. However, this is a Spring Training game in late February, so let's be real. There's nothing to preview. Just enjoy the play-by-play on MLB.com and picture Addison Russell hitting opposite field doubles in your head.
Interesting news from Susan Slusser's Twitter:
- Grant Balfour has started throwing off of flat ground, which is ahead of schedule. The biggest challenge is holding back such a tough competitor.
- Chris Young is apparently fine after tweaking his quad yesterday, but will sit out for a couple of days just in case.
- We're going to start seeing real starting pitchers this week: A.J. Griffin and Dan Straily will go in the next couple of days.
Lineups:
CF Coco Crisp
2B Jed Lowrie
RF Josh Reddick
DH Yoenis Cespedes
1B Brandon Moss
SS Hiro Nakajima
C John Jaso
3B Josh Donaldson
LF Michael Taylor
Here's hoping that today is the day when Michael Taylor finally shows us something. Seriously, anything. Do anything good, big guy. I'll settle for a nice running catch.
CF Michael Bourn
3B Ryan Raburn
LF Michael Brantley
DH Jason Giambi
1B Chris McGuinness
2B Cord Phelps
RF Ezequiel Carrera
SS Juan Diaz
C Lou Marson
Yes, that is Jason Giambi, playing a baseball game in 2013. It should also be noted that Matt Carson is a non-roster invitee to Cleveland's camp. And that they have players named Cord and Ezequiel starting in the same spring lineup. Sheesh.
Baseball!
