A Look Inside the New SB Nation United - Which Includes A Facelift for Athletics Nation

As the grueling last 13 games of the season are being played, stay tuned for the upcoming rollout of SB Nation United (coming soon to a blog near you!), a re-design of our network of sports blogs.

First, a few of the main benefits which the new platform will bring to you:

- SB Nation United is going to make our sites load faster and run better, meaning you can get to the content you want faster. (baseballgirl commentary: YAY! Seriously, YAY!)
- SB Nation United is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design and reduction of clutter. (baseballgirl commentary: Less clutter! More stories at the same time!)
- SB Nation United is going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change. (baseballgirl commentary: Are you serious? Like I can really use my iPad for game threads? This will change my life!)
- SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads. (baseballgirl commentary: We're losing nothing! Yay!)

Follow after the jump with some screen shots featuring various aspects of the new design, taken from a sampling of different sites within the SB Nation network...

The new Cover is flexible. This is the top of the front page, and will feature the articles written by the authors of the site. We will be able to highlight the stories we want. We also have a StoryStream, which is what you see in the large feature slot on the left in the picture.

Here, we have highlighted four stories in a different layout type:

Another layout:

An open thread, and two other stories:

The River.

Below the cover is an area called the River. This area behaves much like the current site. You will find a reverse chronological flow of stories not currently in the featured positions. These stories will rotate down the page as new content is added, and this is where Front Paged FanPosts and FanShots will appear.

The River picture is a full screen shot of the entire page, so if you would like to see it, please click here. You will be able to zoom in on the picture from there.

These are a new addition. Now, instead of us just adding "UPDATE", we can use a StoryStream to link articles and updates into on place. You will see a reverse chronological list of the updates, and you can keep up with developing stories easily.

The mobile version of the website is gone. SB Nation United simply "adapts" to the browser you are using, meaning you will get full site functionality, no matter what type of device you are using. That means you can read everything, post from you phone, and comment with no change between the sites.

Just like with the mobile version, the tablet version of the site is just a re-sized version of the original. Thank. Goodness.

I'm excited, but check it out for yourself. I'm easy to woo. Put an elephant on my logo and I'm good.

Jarrod Parker makes his Yankees Stadium debut tonight against CC Sabathia. A's-Yankees tonight at 4:00PM. We'll see you back here for all the action!
