Very important A's news! Chris Carter has been called up and will start at 1B tonight against the Rangers and Tyson Ross has been sent back down to AAA in Sacramento.
After the tough 7 - 6 loss to the Rangers yesterday, the A's look to AJ Griffin to make his second career start against the Texas Rangers.
Griffin impressed in his MLB debut last Sunday against the Giants only giving up 2 runs in 6 innings while striking out 4 and walking one. He will be opposed by Rangers lefty Matt Harrison. Harrison has been solid with a 3.24 ERA over 97.1 innings and has compiled a 10 - 4 record back by the best offense in baseball. Although Harrison has put up a great ERA, he gives up about 9 hits per game and only strikes out about 5 per game.
The A's are see-sawing around .500 as they look to improve their 37 - 40 record against the American League West-leading Rangers.
