The A's and Mariners really made this recap easy.

In his third start of the year, Erasmo Ramirez of the Mariners led off the game by striking out the side. Tommy Milone got off to a shaky start giving up singles to Franklin Gutierrez and Jesus Montero, but was able to get out of the inning unharmed. What ended up being Ramirez' only real mistake was a solo home run by Seth SMith, his 8th of the year. Basically the only threat the Mariners put up against Milone was in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jesus Montero led off the inning with a single, Justin Smoak grounded into a force out, Michael Saunders hit a single to put runners on first and second, but Miguel Olivo ended the threat by grounding into a double play.

Tommy Milone went 7 innings, with 7 hits, 5 strikeouts, and no walks, no runs improving his record to 8-5 and becoming the first A's rookie to have 8 wins before the All-Star break. Grant Balfour pitched a perfect 8th and Ryan Cook went out in the 9th to close the game, striking out Kyle Seager, Jesus Montero before walking Justin Smoak. Fortunately the walk didn't hurt the A's as Cook was able to get Michael Saunders to ground out and get the A's the win.

Erasmo Ramirez was great aside from the HR from Seth Smith, only giving up singles to Brandon Moss and Brandon Inge, but the Mariners could not put up any runs to support him in his second loss of the season. He struck out 10 batters and only walked one in his losing effort.

Tomorrow the A's take on the Mariners again at 7:10 PM PT!
