Game 150 - Detroit @ Oakland - Open Game Thread - Hey, At Least it's not the Yankees Gonna Be Celebrating

Thirteen games left. Thirteen. The A's end in Seattle for three, where they go after three in Anaheim. They end their home stand with three versus Texas, and tonight they begin a four-game stand against Detroit.

Regardless of what you're rooting for, the opposition the rest of the way is tough. The only "easy" team is Seattle and they always manage to play hard against the A's.

And, if we play our cards right, and Texas and Anaheim comply, we could witness not one, but two teams clinch playoff berths while playing in Oakland! Joy!

Even the season is taking its toll on the GaW:

There will be a drinking game and I will be playing.. I just have to set up the party then I will figure out what the game is..

So. Let's play some Three Man, Mr. Marquez. Everybody drink.

I'll be honest with you, folks. Detroit's coming to town, they've won twelve straight, their magic number to clinch is one, the last time the guy they got pitching tonight pitched against us, he struck out 14 out of a possible 17 and allowed no runs. Meanwhile, Mrs. McCarthy's reason for drinking heavily will be on the mound for our baseballing club. Swooney and Bailey are hurt for our side. And, instead of Jemile Weeks, we get Tree Cookies playing second tonight. Jim Leland has decided that he will raze the earth and drink the blood of newborn babies.

That last one may be from the movie, Constantine., but I'm fairly certain Leyland cuts a swath of destruction wherever he goes.

At some point, though, the Tigers have to lose. And Bloomnight's as good as any. And Brandon certainly wants to finish with a winning record. And our Pig's been hot. Go, Pig. Go.

It looks to be a beautiful day--the sun in shining, the birds are chirping--go out and see the game in person if you can. I'm sure 2,500 of your closest friends will be there with you. If not, settle in, turn on Ray and Glen or KK and Vince and game thread with AN. Oh, and Mrs. McCarthy sez it's cold at the Coliseum already, but she is, by all accounts, very skinny.
