Open Thread: Game 54 - A's vs. Orioles

I don't know about you but I'm digging this wacky world that is the American League West where just 1.5 games separates the front-runner from the cellar-dwellar. And as the A's reach the thirdway point of the season today, the division is very much theirs for the taking. And everybody else's for that matter.

Well there's nothing like a modest winning streak to screw up an execution but it appears that Bob Geren is no longer on the burn seat. The A's current string of three wins in sucession is the team's longest of 2011, accomplished on two other occasions in April. This marks only the second time that the offense has scored four runs or more in at least three straight contests; the A's reached that magic number in a four-game span April 15-19, and are 18-5 overall (11-1 in May) when four or more are scored.

And with a win today the A's can sweep a three-game series for the first time this season. In fact, it's the first time this season that they have been in a position to sweep a three-game series. Carrying the broom is starter Guillermo Moscoso who will be opposed by ROY candidate Zach Britton.
