Open Thread: Game 37 (Oakland Athletics at Texas Rangers)

We've got them right where we want them.

The A's currently stand two games above .500 and one game out of first place, which is a rather nice position to be in. Even nicer is the fact that the third place preseason favorite Rangers are huddled in the corner, licking their wounds and whining about umpires. Classy move, CJ.

"It’s like obviously no one sets out there to go walk guys, and I haven’t been doing that lately,’’ Wilson said. "It’s just only against their team that I do that. They take everything close. If it’s not called a strike, then they walk. It’s lawyer ball. That’s how they roll. "That’s how they’re going to beat me. That’s how they have to beat me. I have to make a bunch of mistakes and walk a bunch of guys because they’re not that good of a hitting team. The whole game was frustrating.’’

Anyway, we've got another favorable pitching matchup ahead of us, as Brett Anderson (2-2, 2.77 ERA) takes on Colby Lewis (2-4, 5.21 ERA). By the way, CJ, Brett has the fourth lowest walk rate in the American League right now, so...friendly word of advice: Be more like Brett. You're welcome!

Colby Lewis, on the other hand, has had a really tough start to the year, but we shouldn't take him too lightly. Last time out, he threw a complete game loss, striking out 11 Mariners in 8 innings. Here's hoping the A's trot out their offensive lawyering juggernaut of an offense tonight.

First pitch is at 5:05 Pacific.
