A's, McCarthy, Get Shelled By Angels

Well, if the fifth starter job is going to be based on yesterday and today's games, then Tyson Ross would have an easy win over Brandon McCarthy. Ross allowed one lone run in his 5+ innings of work in yesterday's game; pretty much the exact opposite of what McCarthy did in today's. Tagged for six earned runs (seven overall) and ten hits in the exact same 5+ innings, McCarthy looked anything but an effective starting pitcher. However, we assume the decision will be based on the Spring as a whole, past performances, and future predictions. And so we wait; the starter job could very well be announced today.

The A's never really had a chance in today's game; they were down from the very start. However, in his bid to join the roster and crack the 25-man, Andy LaRoche (and I sympathize with every announcer who calls him "Adam"; I write it every single time), did hit another homerun for the A's first run. Kouzmanoff and Sweeney (who has had a great Spring) knocked in the other two runs as the A's lose with the final score of 10-3.

But that's not important, is it? What's important is that one week from tonight is OPENING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
