You can't miss this one, folks.
We've got two All-Stars facing each other in what should be one of the best pitching matchups of the year. A's RHP Trevor Cahill (8-2, 2.74 ERA) has been a huge surprise this year, after coming off of one of the worst full-year pitching seasons in all of baseball in 2009. Trevor missed the beginning of 2010 with an injury, so he's currently two innings short of qualifying for the ERA title. If he qualified, he'd rank fourth in the American League, behind Cliff Lee, David Price, and Clay Buchholz. Tonight, Cahill faces Yankees $161 million dollar man CC Sabathia, who is having a fine year himself (10-3, 3.33 ERA). Sabathia is known as being one of the best pitchers in baseball, but for whatever reason, he has a 5-8 record with a 5.63 ERA in 19 starts against Oakland in his career. But given the state of Oakland's offense, I wouldn't exactly expect a gascan.
First pitch is at 7:05. Oh, and if you're reading this on your phone at the ballpark tonight, can you try to make more noise than the Yankee fans in attendance? Thanks.
