Join Us For The SB Nation Meet-ups in Los Angeles and the Bay Area

As many of you know, SB Nation is in the process of launching 20 Regional sites this month. You can find a list of links on the right sidebar of SB Nation, but in order, they are Phoenix, Detroit, Chicago, DC, Boston, New York, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, St. Louis, Minnesota, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Tampa, Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, and the Bay Area.

The regional sites are awesome (they are launched one a day in June, the morning of each meet-up) and they cover all sports news in the general regional area. Los Angeles will go up on Tuesday, and the Bay Area will go up Thursday to close out the month. But more importantly, SB Nation is throwing parties to celebrate these launches, and you should all come!

SB Nation (and Blez) have been written up in the New York Times and on various blogs regarding these launches, and it's amazing to think about how far SB Nation has come from the early days of AN.

Since I have been on Athletics Nation for years and was crazy enough to sign up for some travel, SB Nation asked me to attend some of these meet-ups to explain what these sites are all about.  I have been a bit MIA from AN due to this, but it's almost over!

I will tell you that it's the weirdest feeling to be in another city, hearing other users talk about their screen names, their player nicknames, their managers, their version of "AN", and so forth. In New York, the Mets fans from Amazin' Avenue found themselves in a tight little circle, exchanging phone numbers and usernames; finding a safe haven in the chaos of Pinstripe Alley members.

Everywhere I went; however, I was greeted with shock and awe when our blog was mentioned. "Athletics Nation? That's the FIRST ONE! Wow, what was it like when it was only AN? Tell me everything!" Even better? When some of you showed up to the events to introduce yourselves!

If you live in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, consider yourself invited to next week's parties! Crown Royal Black is sponsoring the meet-up in Los Angeles by offering select complementary well drinks and beer, and we are working on deals for the Bay Area meet-up as well. Sports talk and drinks? Okay, maybe that's not enough, but there IS a rumor that the mysterious Blez might make an appearance. We would love huge turnouts for these events, so come and hang out!
