AN's CBSSports.com Fantasy Baseball Update - Why A's Fans Shouldn't Pay Attention to Fantasy Stats

As our quest for the mirror ball trophy continues into May, our 12 teams have started to take shape. You can view the full standings here, but it's important to note that Team BBG (otherwise known as Chicks Dig The Green And Gold) has been hampered by the injury losses of Nelson Cruz and Jimmy Rollins. This is one of those times where what's bad for my Fantasy Baseball team should have been good for the A's in this series; Cruz is one of Texas' best hitters.

The A's are trying to take the series with a win today, and put themselves back in first place.

Cruz, even from the bench, still leads team BBG with his 7 homeruns, but Braun is closing in with 5. Miguel Tejada has done a fine job filling in for Rollins, but have you seen Carlos Gonzalez?

He's batting .330 with an .849 OPS...sigh. If it's any consolation, Gonzalez has stolen four bases, but has been caught three times. Sigh.

How does an outfield with Gonzalez and Andre Ethier sound? (I wouldn't look at his numbers, either.) Remember, at one time, both of these players were in the A's system. And even with Taylor and Carter waiting in the wings, at times like these, I just can't help but think of the sacrifices we've made over the years, and the holes in the offense. However, if the A's can score another 7 runs today, I might not mind so much.
