PLEASE note the Olympic spoiler plea here.
By popular demand, the Friday night game threads are starting a little early this year with tonight's test run. Since baseball won't be here for three more weeks, we have some time to practice, and we're using the 2010 Winter Olympics as an excuse.
If you haven't been following SBNation.com, you should check it out; they have an entire Winter Olympics section, complete with the handy little medal tracker that we all love. TV coverage will begin tonight at 7:30.
In all seriousness, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Nodar Kumaritashvili, who died today practicing on the luge track. Apparently, Canada has kept all other countries off the track for a home field advantage, and this was not the first time that the track was questioned as dangerous. One would think that this death has now put the luge event into serious jeopardy. Would you race?
It will be interesting to see how the spirit of tonight's festivities has changed after today's death; I imagine there will be a tribute to Nodar at tonight's Opening Ceremonies, but I would think that such a tragic accident will really weigh heavily on the other athletes.
If you need a refresher; here are your top 25 USA athletes.
Here is the Olympic schedule.
What is your favorite Winter Olympic game? Mine are Men's Figure Skating free skate, freestyle skiing aerials, and the short-track speedskating.
And to keep things on topic (haha!), maybe post what you think each A's player would medal in if he was a Winter Olympic athlete. Personally, I'd like to see Jack Cust do a men's figure skating routine. That would actually make my year.
If you REALLY are dying for some more A's news, here are some pretty pictures of A's shooting commercials.
