It's a sad day when I no longer have to look at the previous game threads to figure out what number game we are on; I can just count backwards on my player calendar to arrive at the correct number. After tonight, there will be ten games left in the 2009 season--a disappointment to many of us, but the A's are showing some life in September. If you'd like to know if that matters for 2010, see the thread below.
Tonight's game will feature Clay Mortensen, who will be looking for his third win in a row. He will be opposed by RHP Tommy Hunter.
You have to wonder about today's A's MLB article, in which Urban takes great pains to highlight how Patterson is the lead candidate for replacing Hairston for the remainder of the season. This quote:
Eric Patterson spent most of the season proving that he's more than ready for the challenge of regular playing time in the big leagues.
With the most recent injury to A's outfielder Scott Hairston, Patterson figures to get it.
just BEGS the question: WHY does Patterson figure to get it? Isn't Buck better than Patterson? Why isn't anyone talking about this? Why isn't Buck even mentioned?
I am entirely too curious for my own good, 'cause it's driving me crazy.
Tonight's lineups:
LET'S GO OAKLAND!
