The A's look to take the series with a win in this afternoon's rubber game at the Coliseum. Today's contest will feature Trevor Cahill, coming off one of his best starts of his career--a seven inning, two-hit shutout against the powerful Angels. Cahill's season has been as expected for the young rookie; ups and downs, with flashes of great pitching. Thursday was certainly evidence of that. Tomko was slated to start today's game, but according to MLB.com, Geren wanted Cahill to work on normal rest.
Cahill and the A's will be facing Brian Bannister, who has had his own struggles this season for the Royals. Kurt Suzuki will be resting today, as Landon Powell makes his second apperance this week! Hairston is also out; and Sweeney, Davis, and Patterson will patrol the outfield.
Another series win would be great for the A's!
