Open Thread: Game 106 - A's vs. Rangers

Good evening! I'm baseballgirl and I"ll be your host for tonight's game thread. The A's have been marginally more fun to watch lately, so let's hope that continues with the game tonight.

Not many games this year have rewarded the AN faithful, but I felt that last night's surprising comeback win really did. It was great to see an at-bat that snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat, even if it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of the 2009 season. Plus, Rajai Davis got the hit; how can you not like that? It certainly earned him a start tonight.

Tonight's game features the newly resurgent Gio Gonzalez, who is coming off a start a Fenway in which he struck out eight Red Sox in five and a third innings. Before that was his brilliant start against the Yankees at New Yankee Stadium. Before that...we'll...let's forget that start.

He will be matched up against Derek Holland, who is coming off a very good start of his own; pitching nearly a complete game against the Mariners.

Our lineup widget seems to be giving yesterday's lineups, so we're going old-fashioned tonight:

For the visiting Texas Rangers:

Arias, 2B
Young, 3B
Byrd, CF
Jones, DH
Blalock, 1B
Hamilton, RF
Murphy, LF
Saltalamacchiacchia, C
Andrus, SS

For your Oakland Athletics:

Davis, CF
Suzuki, C
Hairston, LF
Garciaparra, DH
Cust, RF
Everidge, 1B
Crosby, 3B
Ellis, 2B
Pennington, SS

LET'S GO OAKLAND!
