Well the last time the Twins were in town, the wacky, wonderful ride that was Mazzaro World was on its last quarter. A six-game win streak would increase by one against a Minnesota team trying to shake off the road blues. But by the time the four-game series had drawn to a close, it would take a late and unlikely rally by the A's just to earn a split.
Since that day Oakland has gone 11-20 to sink further in the AL West, while the Twins have found their footing away from home, winning 12 of 19 on the road, and 17 of 30 overall to climb back into the AL Central race.
The A's send Gio Gonzalez to the mound tonight, who struck out eight batters in his last start on July 5, a 5-2 victory at Cleveland. Minnesota counters with Nick Blackburn (8-4, 3.06 ERA).
And in case you did not hear, Jason Giambi has been placed on the disabled list, and Daric Barton is summoned once more.
Feel free to walk on the dark side for a minute, but don't go too far away. There are still about 70 of these left to go, and like it or not, you're stuck with this team.
