Open Thread: Game 48 - A's at Texas

I've tried everything I can think of to get the A's to play better.

I thought if I went on a hunger strike, the players would be highly motivated but all I got was an email that read, "Big deal - we can take a strike." So then I tried sacrificing a chicken, but now the chicken is at second base with one out and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do next. So last night I tried sticking pins in a Michael Young doll and what happens? Young reports that his sinuses have cleared up and his gall bladder feels great.

So I'm at a loss. Speaking of losses, for the third consecutive Sunday the A's take the field trying to avoid a series sweep. Many possible scenarios for this team were considered before the season, but few of them had the Oakland A's 11 games behind the Texas Rangers on the last day of May. Today's "fun fact": The Rangers have won more games in May than the A's have won all season. OK maybe "fun" wasn't the right word.

Dallas Braden against Kevin Millwood today.
