After yesterday's disheartening doubleheader sweep, the A's try to regroup tonight behind Brett Anderson as they try to salvage this series against the division leaders. The Rangers will be throwing Brandon McCarthy against the anemic A's offense, which is minus Jack Cust.
Looking at the game notes from last night, it lists Travis Buck as fighting a sore oblique, which is the only possible explanation I can come up with for why he is not in the lineup again tonight, despite his 3 for 4 performance in yesterday's first game. This week, he is 4 for 7 with two homeruns and four runs scored in the two games he's been allowed to play, and is sitting tonight against the righty. Injury had better be the reason he is out tonight; consider the difference if every game started by Rajai Davis had been started by Buck instead this season. He couldn't have played worse. In other news, how do we go about fielding a team with healthy players? (baseballgirl note: Buck is now on the DL. I stand by my last question. This is not a healthy organization.)
