Open Thread: Game 44 - A's vs. Mariners

Cahill_medium

For the first time this year, the A's try to put together four wins in a row. They are also going for the elusive three game sweep, a very rare occurance around these parts.

Trevor Cahill will be taking the mound for the A's this afternoon, coming off probably his best start of the season on Friday night. The A's offense refused to take him off the hook for the two runs he allowed in 7+ innings. Let's hope this new and improved A's team of the week can change that.

Cahill has already faced the Mariners twice this season. He lost one game 1-0, and ended up with a no-decision the second time. Third time's the charm, right?

To no one's surprise, Nomar has been placed back on the DL and the A's have recalled Jeff Gray.

The A's offense will try to help Cahill against the lefty Erik Bedard, who is not exactly who they wanted to see. They will need to capitalize on every chance they get in this game.
