Open Thread: Game 30 - A's vs. Royals

As you may remember from the good old days (the two game winning streak last Thursday/Friday), Trevor Cahill picked up his first major league win, holding the Rangers to five hits and one run, and even went seven innings. I'd like a repeat performance tonight, but so far; we can't have nice things this season.

Maybe the offense is just mad at Braden and will get behind Cahill for some run support tonight.

The A's will be facing Luke Hochevar, a young, talented pitcher who is making his first start of the 2009 season tonight. Despite success at the AAA level, Hochevar hasn't made it work in the big leagues yet. The A's have actually faced him at the Coliseum last year; they pounded him for six runs. I'd like a repeat performance of that too. (Hey, I never said I couldn't ask for nice things.)

The lineups look like this:

Lineup

Kansas City Royals @ Oakland Athletics

05/12/09 7:05 PM PDT

Kansas City Royals Oakland Athletics
Coco Crisp - CF Orlando Cabrera - SS
David DeJesus - LF Kurt Suzuki - C
Mark Teahen - 3B Jason Giambi - 1B
Jose Guillen - RF Matt Holliday - LF
Billy Butler - 1B Jack Cust - DH
Mike Jacobs - DH Ryan Sweeney - CF
Alberto Callaspo - 2B Adam Kennedy - 2B
John Buck - C Travis Buck - RF
Mike Aviles - SS Jack Hannahan - 3B

Still can't quite figure out the #1 spot, but I like Suzuki in the 2-hole, and Sweeney after Cust. Buck makes an appearance, and it looks like Crosby is sitting this one out.

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!!!
