Photo/Image Note: As you are posting in the game threads (and there have been some fun ones lately), please keep in mind when posting photos and images that a lot of people read AN in real-time at work, or read the game threads at work the next day. We've had some surprises recently when people open game threads and have to close them quickly. Obviously this only applies to certain photos/images (and we have no desire to draw a line); just give it a second thought when posting. ;-) Thanks! --BBG
Josh Outman takes the mound tonight for the A’s after his 2009 debut last week against Seattle, where he couldn’t quite manage five innings. He will be facing young David Purcey and the red-hot Toronto ballclub; their offense helping secure an 8-3 start to the early season.
The A’s are 4-5; having taken 2 out of 3 from both the Angels and the Red Sox, but faltering against Seattle. They will need to put it all together this weekend to win the series against Toronto, and Outman will certainly have to be better than he was last weekend. The A’s have never faced Purcey.
Nomar Garciaparra is back in the lineup today; at DH, which means that Cust is in the outfield. Bobby Crosby is at his new position: third base, and Giambi will be playing first.
