After suffering an agonizing sweep at the hands of Seattle this weekend, the A’s have stormed the castle to rescue the princess back to take the first two games of the series from Boston; already securing the series win, and looking for the series sweep.
As Flashfire pointed out in last night's recap, today's game will pit Brett Anderson against ancient knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who is twice Anderson's age (42 to 21).
Anderson took a tough loss on Friday night against the Mariners, where just one bad inning out of his six combined with an unproductive A's offense handed him the loss in his debut. He will be looking to minimize the damage today (especially the big inning), and will be looking for some offensive help.
Here is a little ditty from Englishmajor that you may have missed in last night's (awesome) game thread; combining "Celebration" with the "Mini Sirloin Burger" commercial after probably the 50th showing during last night's game.
There’s a party goin’ on way out west (way out west)
A story’s told to last throughout the years
About a bunch of cowboys, and your laughter too
Ridin’ tall to party with you.
It’s time to come together (tiny and bold)
Tall in the saddle — what’s your pleasure?
Everyone around the world, the size of schnauzers but they’re cattle.
Celebrate, mini sirloin burgers! Come on! Yippee-yi-yo, good times! And guess what, I love pancakes!
The good thing about today's game is GameDay and GameDay Audio.
Jason Giambi gets a much-needed day off, as Powell makes an appearance at first base; Crosby again at third. I hope Nomar is okay.
Let's go for the SWEEP Oak-land!!!
