Open Thread: Game 65 - A's vs. Yankees

Well, after last night's temper-tantrum-inducing game; the one where I almost came through my TV to throttle Suzuki after his rally-ending DP, we can only hope for a better one tonight. Last night was one of those games where I would have been happy to lose 9-8 in extra innings, rather than watch the A's sorry excuse for offense try unsucessfully for eight innings to tie the game at two.

Ahem.

Justin Duchscherer, fresh off a pretty good start his last time out, will take the mound for the A's as they try to even up the series with the Yankees, and remain 5 games back of the Angels in the West. Yes, they won today; they nearly always do.

The A's will be facing RHP Darrell Rasner (3-3, 2.58 ERA), looking to score more than one run. That would be nice.

Street is questionable for tonight, with his now-disclosed groin injury, but there is good news on the horizon for Casilla, Sweeney, R, and Frank Thomas. Casilla could be back next week, Sweeney may be back any day (once the A's decide how to clear room for him), and Thomas hopes to rejoin the team after interleague play.
