Open Thread: Game 58 - A's vs. Red Sox

Well, I can’t tell if the A’s are more lucky than good, but at this point, I don’t think it matters. The only thing that matters tonight is that the A’s have taken the first two of the four game series from Boston and look to secure the series win. In case you missed it, the Angels actually lost today, so a win would also net the A’s a game in the standings.

Hard-luck Joe Kennedy and his one win take the mound today, hoping it still has a little of last night’s magic left. Kennedy has pitched well so far this year, but like most of the starters, has fallen victim to the A’s offensive struggles.

On the hill for Boston is Tim Wakefield, the knuckleballer; a little different look for the A’s. The MLB game notes claim Ellis hits him well, and indeed, the red-hot Ellis is batting second. No sign of Bradley.
