Open Thread: Game 62 - A's at Giants

What a difference a week makes. At this time last Sunday, we were contemplating a few things. The A’s were trying to earn a series win against Minnesota by beating Cy Santana, trying to at least split a series against the Red Sox, and to top off the week, the A's were facing the Giants and their starting pitching potential. Seven days, seven pitchers:

Santana
Tavarez
Matsuzaka
Wakefield
Schilling
Lincecum
Zito

Looking at the match-ups on paper, the A’s looked good for about two of those games. Instead, they made every single game into a contest, and won six out of seven, the only loss coming with the difference of one run. That’s a pretty impressive week by anyone’s standards.

The A’s have a chance to continue their streak today as they throw the surprisingly great DiNardo against yet another good Giants’ pitcher: Matt Cain, as the A’s go for the sweep. The A’s offense has been doing just enough lately, and we look for more of the same. Great pitching, timely hitting, welcome to June.
