Open Game Thread: Game 33 - A's at Kansas City

Yes, our very own version of a weeble wobble takes the mound today after a disheartening loss against the Royals last night. Joe Kennedy with an 0-2 record and a 2.48 ERA takes on the Royals and Luke Hudson, who is making his first start of the year. Hudson has a career 17-17 record and a 5.00 ERA.

The A's have very few ABs against Hudson, so you know what that means? As usual with the A's it will probably take a time or two through the order to figure out what he has. Then again, they haven't been figuring out too many pitchers this year so it may never happen.

Joe Kennedy has a sparkling ERA despite the fact that his K/BB ratio is 1.08 and he has the highest WHIP of any A's starting pitcher at 1.34. You do have to wonder when the other shoe might drop with Kennedy even though he's done a good job of surviving so far.

By the way, the game last night was troublesome for me, not because the A's lost, but because Justin Duchscherer got hit exceptionally hard. Teahen laced a shot and others were acting like Duke was throwing cookies in there. It makes me wonder if he's having trouble throwing the cutter the way he normally likes because you just don't usually see people teeing off on Duke that way. That could be a major concern going down the road because Duke just hasn't looked like Duke so much this year. He was always automatic.

Here are the starting lineups:
