Athletics Nation Day at the Coliseum 2007

It's that time of year again. Yes, time when we need to figure out what the best day and date for AN Day is. I seriously considered retiring the event and leaving on a high note because I can't imagine any AN Day would ever top the experience of last year's event. We had Billy Beane and Ken Korach hold a question and answer session before the game and then the game itself was one of the most thrilling of the season with Mark Kotsay having an amazing 12-pitch AB against BJ Ryan and then Milton Bradley hitting the walk off winner. It took me about a week to regain my voice.

Any way, I want to do the event after July this year as Billy Beane was still dealing with trade deadline stuff and we didn't know whether he could make it until that day. So here are the dates and locations that are available after calling and checking in with my contact at the A's:

Saturday, August 4 vs. Angels Left BBQ Plaza
Saturday, August 18 vs. Royals Left Field BBQ Plaza
Sunday, August 19 vs. Royals Left Field BBQ Plaza
Saturday, September 1 vs. Tigers Both BBQ Plaza
Sunday, September 2 vs. Tigers Both BBQ Plaza
Saturday, September 29 vs. Angels Both BBQ Plaza
Sunday, September 30 vs. Angels Both BBQ Plaza

Now I want to get as many people there as humanly possible so I'm willing to bend to the will of whatever people want. I personally would rather go to a game against the Angels more so than any other one and while it's nice to think that the A's could still be battling the Angels down to the last weekend of the season, I'm thinking it would be better to go the game in early August. I mean the Royals game would probably be a little more relaxing, but why not make it an intense series against our fiercest rival? And the Tigers series is actually on Labor Day weekend. I'm assuming most of you have plans then. AN has a record of 2-1 on AN Days so far and I'm looking to make it 3-1 this year. The one loss was to the Royals, so perhaps we avoid that team...

So let us know asap so we can start planning. I also wanted to publicly thank baseballgirl for organizing the event last year. She's just awesome and deserves much love from AN.

Oh and off topic, I'm actually loving this move to Southern California. Outside of the fact that I've had to listen to the opposition team's announcers almost every game, I've been able to see every single game on TV so far. That is so wrong about Major League Baseball that I'm seeing more games now than I did in Sacramento.
