AN, we wound up with about $4,403 total in cash and we were able to get both tickets and food for Sports4Kids. I was nervous that we wouldn't be able to come up with the food money, but basically I found out what Sports4Kids wanted (more tickets for less games with food) and the A's adjusted accordingly.
Here's how it shaped up:
12 total tickets per game
22 total games
Food vouchers that include hot dogs, chips and sodas
Sports4Kids wanted the tickets to coincide with the school calendar so most of the tickets are April, May and early June as well as late August and September. The A's were extremely cooperative and discounted the tickets heavily for us for the second year in a row. I want to publicly thank the A's for recognizing what AN does as something of value. So thanks to Steve Fanelli for all of his help in getting this done.
But the biggest thanks of all goes to you, Athletics Nation. This is such a special thing that this community does and it gives me goosebumps to think that AN could possibly be creating new A's fans with this simple gesture. So a huge hearty thanks to all of you who contributed. The goal is to continue to give you updates from Sports4Kids on the games throughout the year.
I intended to drop off the tickets today, but my daughter came down with a fever and a nasty cough so I stayed home with her. And because we're packing and moving I'm going to have to mail the tickets to Sports4Kids.
Once again, thank you AN. The best community on the Web.
