The A's, who rarely go to arbitration with a player, crossed an important one off the "headed to arby" list when they agreed to a one-year deal with Justin Duchscherer for $1,187,500.
On one hand, the A's have avoid a hearing that can potentially be expensive and can create bad feeling. On the other hand, likely many on AN were hoping to read that the A's and Duchscherer had taken the opportunity to negotiate a multi-year deal. This did not happen, but a contract agreement for 2007 did.
