The Long Wait

The A's have been on the cusp of getting to the playoffs in 2006 going on four nights now. For me, getting into the playoffs is a remarkable achievement for this franchise when you consider the team's financial constraints, especially against some of their main competition, like Yankees West (aka LAAAAAAA). Course, the playoffs add a whole new level of stress, but for at least a few days, all is right with the world.

But to pass the time, I've been doing everything possible to try and distract myself, including reading anything that isn't baseball-related, looking around the Web for non-baseball-related news (mostly hockey stuff). I feel like I'm 7 years old again on Christmas Eve, only Santa likes to screw with me and make his visit a moving target if he ever decides to show up at all. Remember, the dude does sport red and white.

For those that don't know, I'm a huge video game fan, so I've occasionally tried to lose myself in that hobby. I've also gotten on a new exercise routine and been spending a lot of time at the gym and this past weekend my wife and I ran in the Nike RunHitRemix race in Los Angeles.

So here's my question for you...what have you been doing to distract yourself from things in between these painful experiences? What's your distraction? Because if I didn't have them right now, I'm probably be going Ha-Ha-Ho-Ho-Hee-Hee and they're coming to take me away!
