Game 3 of this 4-game series features Esteban Loaiza against the right-handed stylings of Fausto Carmona who, like Ambiorix Burgos, has a way cool first name but a rather poor stat line. Carmona is 1-9, 6.03 ERA, with three of those losses taking place during a rapid succession of blown saves and walk-off horrors that inspired Cleveland to keep him as far away from the 9th inning as possible. In this, the Indians have been successful, as Carmona has not gotten past the 5th inning in either of his starts.
The absence of Eric Chavez from the lineup suggests his foul ball chase up onto the A's bullpen mound last night did not end well. Which is good, because what Chavy really needs is at least one more cranky limb. The lineups:
