Open Thread: Game 148 - A's vs. White Sox

OK, let me get my day in order: toga, broom. Right, got it. The broom is for later when the A's try for the sweep of Chicago at 1:05pm. But first, I'm off to the "How Berkeley Can You Be?" parade, which always features a comforting blend of hippies, nudists, the lady who walks her pig and her goat at Cal--you know, the normal combination of city dwellers. Or so I've heard, anyway; I've never actually gone to this particular parade.

But this year I'm going. I was thinking I should go as, I don't know, maybe a vegan-lesbian-aromatherapist? But as it turns out, I'm following the lead of several teachers and students at my school, who are all donning togas to march together as philosophers (specifically, Socrates, to represent the school's educational mission of Socratic teaching). It should be fun, especially if I can get the goat's phone number.

Anyhoo, it'll be Joe Blanton against Jose Contreras today, and the starting lineups will be posted either by louismg or baseballgirl or Blez, or in the thread by some kind soul, or by Cindi (who's going to the parade as a fairy princess because she has it mixed up with Hallowe'en), or by me when I get home, or by me and the goat together (typing with the left hand and the right hoof; isn't it romantic?)--the point is, someone will post the lineups at some point, and that's a good thing.
