Not that it's a huge shocker, but Dan Johnson has been recalled by the Oakland Athletics. I imagine a lot of it has to do with the fact that they want him postseason eligible.
D'Angelo Jimenez wound up being outrighted to Sacramento.
Here is the official press release:
IF D'Angelo Jimenez Outrighted to Sacramento
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's today recalled first baseman Dan Johnson from Triple-A Sacramento and sent infielder D'Angelo Jimenez outright to Sacramento.
Johnson was on the A's Opening Day roster and started 67 of the A's 88 games at first base before the All-Star Break. He was batting .237 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 72 games when he was optioned to Sacramento one day after the break on July 14. Johnson hit .314 with seven home runs and 44 RBI in 46 games with the River Cats and added 32 walks for a .426 on-base percentage. He batted .449 with six home runs and 26 RBI in 17 games in July but then hit .223 (23 for 103) with a home run and 18 RBI in 29 games in August.
Jimenez was called up by the A's for the second time this year on August 25 when Bobby Crosby went on the Disabled List, but did not appear in a game following his return. He was 0 for 2 in two games during his first stint from August 4 to 17 when Crosby was on the DL for the first time.
