Open Thread: Game 120 - A's vs. Mariners

Tonight, at an Oakland Coliseum near you, the A's quasi-ace Dan Haren, with his 10-9 record and 3.58 ERA, takes on the Mariners and Gil Meche, who features a 9-7 record and a 4.58 ERA.

As has been widely chronicled here and elsewhere, these are two teams headed in different directions. Not only have the A's managed pure domination of the Mariners in 2006, winning 14 straight contests, but the A's have won 5 straight overall, and the Mariners have lost 6 straight, all on the road, including a 4-game sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers.

Against Oakland in his career, Meche sports a 2-6 record and 4.39 ERA. However, Meche owns the only W against the A's by a Mariners pitcher this year, picking up a 6-2 victory on April 6th in his season debut. More recently, he lost 7-6, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on August 6th over 5 innings.

Haren is 2-0 against the M's this year, and won 5-2 on August 5th, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs over 7 innings.

The A's lineup looks like this:

  1. Kendall
  2. Kotsay
  3. Bradley
  4. Thomas
  5. Chavez
  6. Payton
  7. Swisher
  8. Scutaro
  9. Ellis
The M's lineup features more long names at the bottom of their order:
  1. Suzuki
  2. Lopez
  3. Beltre
  4. Ibañez
  5. Perez
  6. Broussard
  7. Johjima
  8. Betancourt
  9. Bloomquist
Go A's! Keep the streak alive!
