The A's and Danny Haren look to avoid the sweep against Jake Peavy and the Padres. Haren is 6-6 with a 3.56 ERA and Peavy is 4-8 with a 4.50 ERA.
Peavy is the anchor of the Padres rotation, despite his less-than-stellar numbers at home (4.62 ERA) and in June (0-3, 5.47 ERA). He's an ace who can turn it up at any given moment. Let's hope that doesn't happen today against the A's.
Here is the A's lineup:
Kendall
Swisher
Chavez
Crosby
Johnson
Payton
Kielty
Scutaro
Haren
Kotsay winds up sitting out as Payton gets a taste of the lineup before Big Hurt probably returns tomorrow. Kielty also gets a spot in the outfield. Hopefully, given their June numbers, this will be the best A's lineup and they can score some freaking runs!
Any way, here is the Padres lineup:
Cameron
Young
Giles
Bard
Gonzalez
Bellhorn
Greene
Barfield
Peavy
The Padres have limited ABs (22) against Haren, so it'll be interesting to see how Danny does in the big yard. It didn't help Smokin' Joe last night. I wonder if Billy Beane and Sandy Alderson have a bet going on this series? Will we see Billy running through the streets of San Diego with a sign that says, "I love the Padres" at the end of the day?
LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!!
