Open Thread: Game 72 - A's at Colorado

The A's and Barry Zito with an 8-3 record and a 3.51 ERA take on the Rockies and Aaron Cook with a 5-7 record and a 3.66 ERA.

Coming off two shutouts against the Rockies at Coors Field, and guess what? It doesn't get any easier for the A's offense tonight since they'll be facing the Rockies starting pitcher with the best ERA on the staff tonight.

He's also given up the fewest walks out of the starting pitchers, but he's given up the most hits. That means he's in and around the zone a lot, so hopefully the A's realize that.

Here is the A's starting lineup:

Rouse
Swisher
Kotsay
Chavez
Kielty
Johnson
Melhuse
Scutaro
Zito

Rouse gets quite the promotion to batting leadoff, Crosby gets the night off as does Kendall.

The Rockies send out this lineup:

Carroll
Spilborghs
Helton
Holliday
Atkins
Torrealba
Barmes
Freeman
Cook

This will be the ultimate battle of the atmosphere against breaking ball as Zito will try to get that curveball to work magic. He'll be doing it in a place where other curveball pitchers have gone to die.

LET'S GO A'S!!!
