AL West Preview: The Seattle Mariners

New, 85 comments

The A's beat the Giants 6-4 today and Danny Haren got his first spring win going 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs, one earned.

It's always nice to beat the hated Giants, even if it is a meaningless game.

As promised, the second part of the SB Nation AL West bloggers discussion involving the teams has run on Lookout Landing. It focuses on the 2005 last-place Seattle Mariners. Has the team made enough upgrades to climb out of the cellar and regain its place among the elite of the American League? They will get a full season from Felix Hernandez. They have a possible new Japanese star catcher and if they get a bounce-back season from Adrian Beltre, anything is possible.

But most anticipate a season at the bottom once again for the team from the Pacific Northwest.

If you're looking for the entry on the Texas Rangers, you can find it here.

What do you think of the Mariners chances this year? Do you like any of their offseason moves?
