Erubiel Durazo has signed with the Rangers:
Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels announced today that the club has signed 1B Erubiel Durazo to a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training.
Goodbye, Holy Grail. We hardly knew ye.
Other news of note:
Ray Ratto praises Dan Haren.
You know how much of a leader Haren is? In May, he was 1-6, with a Redding area code ERA, utterly bereft of confidence and wondering if this major-league thing was ever going to work for him. And now, he is sure enough of his place in the Oakland universe that he volunteered to become one of the team's two union reps, not so far from what promises to be a fairly vigorous/nasty collective bargaining negotiation.
Redding area code ERA? Tim Redding?
Eric Chavez wants to be more of a bad-ass:
Eric Chavez is back to his "bad-ass" mode, something he emphasized two years ago but got away from last year, when he had what he called "a mental relapse."
Just make sure that you don't hurt your shoulder with all that swagger, okay?
Chad Tracy, the object of envy by many in this community, is talking long-term deal with the D'Backs.
The Reds continue their march to nowhere by looking into signing vetran pitcher Pedro Astacio.
