Petition: New Gate Policy

There is something I have always been very angry to see, especially at A's games. That is walking from the BART ramp to go stand in line, and seeing a line of twenty kids and a few adults. What do I hate about this picture? They all have Bobble Heads, or Jerseys, or Blankets, and they are all walking the other way.

I am talking about the Giveaway/Souvenirs games, like BobbleHead, Fleece Blanket or Jersey day, where people buy cheap tickets, go into the stadium, get the giveaway and immidietly leave. Many have a van full of kids or other people who get mass of them and then leave, deposit their stuff in the car, then come back for more!

This is what I would like to stop. Those givaways should be for the fans who show up and STAY for the game. So what do I propose to stop this?

Make a Stadium Rule, and enforce it. That rule is that anyone entering the stadium must stay until at least the 2nd inning, or they must hand back their giveaway item. At the very least, it prevents the guys who simply re-enter for more. At the very least it means we will have the stadium look full on bobblehead days, instead of having an attendance of 30k, but only 20 in the stands.

This will effect the average fan in a small way, if you have to go quickly because of an emergency, you won't keep your Bobblehead. But the amount of people in that aspect that will be effected will be nothing compared to the thing it aims to stop. Is it perfect? No, because they might still hide it in bags (unless you do a leaving-bag check like you do with entering). But it should stop the majority of them, and it should allow us, the normal, average, or fanatical fan to get there in time to actually get a giveway instead of seeing it on Ebay 10 minutes after the gates open.

So who is with me!?
