Kirk was brilliant tonight. He was virtually unhittable, but I don't buy the argument that he should've been left in. The A's bullpen has been lights out all season long. And neither Witasick nor Duke could get the job done.
The season isn't over by any means, contrary to the off-the-ledge atmosphere that permeated the game thread. But the team is definitely sputtering. Once again, the offense couldn't provide more than two runs in a season of hit-and-miss performances. It's amazing that this team is fourth in runs in the American League. But it's been feast or famine. The one thing that has been consistent is the pitching.
This is a tough loss to swallow, but the A's have Zito going tomorrow. Although the Indians have ground ball machine Westbrook going.
